Description Of Burn The Floor With Kevin Clifton
This show is famous for delivering fiery, boundary-pushing productions. It ignites and revolutionises ballroom dancing as a contemporary stage show to wow anyone! With fresh, exciting and passionate choreography, this production continues to be ballroom’s leading theatre show across the world. And that’s the case from its origins over twenty years ago.
This show will perform a variety of dance styles, including the intense Tango, romantic waltz and the sensual Rhumba. The company describe their show as “not just a “feel-good” performance; we are seriously a “feel-fantastic” show!”
Analysis Of Burn The Floor With Kevin Clifton
This show was on my radar going back to 1999. I remember receiving the 1999 performance on VHS for Christmas from my Mum and Dad, and I was obsessed. It definitely started a lifelong passion of dance for me, especially ballroom and Latin dancing. So, I remember thinking at the time how powerful dance can be. And how a whole production dedicated purely to dance could fly by in what could feel like 10 mins. This show brought ballroom and Latin into my world, and I’m thankful for that VHS all those years ago. I followed the journey of this show throughout the years. Yet in all this time I have never seen the show perform live on stage. That was, until last night at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton.
It bills itself as a “High Voltage, Theatrical Dance Experience”. And I would definitely agree with that. It was a night of entertainment and pure escapism.
Kevin Clifton
So, Kev from Grimsby and Strictly headed up the show and he was certainly at home in this position. He made light of his age, dappling with moving out of the limelight. And by showing his passion for returning to the stage, he proved that he really is an entertainer at heart. There’s his patter, voice and ability to hold an audience’s attention as a host, as well as a dancer. Indeed, he proved he’s right where he’s meant to be.
Although Kev is the main billing of the show, it’s not just him you’re here to see. You’re here to see the incredible cast of dancers. Burn The Floor is famous for its casting. So, only the best of the best make it into this incredible company. And last night on the Floral stage, we witnessed the future of ballroom. All twelve of them. The cast was phenomenal. So, the stand-out performer to me was Lauren May Oakley. I literally could not take my eyes off her when she was onstage. She hit every single movement; her timing and grace were impeccable. Just outstanding in everything and especially for Hallelujah.
Acts
The show was split into two acts, and it didn’t necessarily have a theme. So, it was a journey of different dance styles from the Waltz to the Cha Cha to the Paso. All the dance styles that everyone has come to recognise and know so well from Strictly were in there. It’s not the deepest in production value, but it works. The dancers move as one in the ensemble parts and shine when they’re alone onstage. There is an abundance of chemistry between the partners and plenty of passion. The performance value of Burn The Floor is outstanding. You can tell the cast are having the time of their lives up there. And this translates to the audience leaving them relaxed and eager to join in.
Not forgetting the talented band and two sensational singers that keep everyone entertained. Furthermore, we witness some incredible dancing and our ears also have a treat with Tyler and Chase giving insane vocals. They also double up as piano and percussion in the band.
Summary Of Burn The Floor With Kevin Clifton
All in all, if you’re a dance fan, this show is a must. If you’re not a dance fan, it’s worth a watch. It’s a feel-good show full of slick choreography, outstanding performances and intricate dancing and passion! So, I had a great night and will definitely head to future shows of Burn The Floor With Kevin Clifton.
