Dial M For Murder
Background
This truly is the genre-defining thriller of all time; could you ever get away with performing the perfect crime? Indeed, this is an all-new production that provides a blueprint for the modern-day thriller. So, there’s the charismatic yet manipulative Tony Wendice, a jaded former tennis player. But he no longer plays, preferring to accommodate his wife Margo. However, he discovers that she is unfaithful, and so he begins plotting revenge by virtue of the “perfect crime”. Now, Alfred Hitchcock’s 1950 movie makes this famous, but it still leaves audiences in astonishment across the world. Furthermore, how does Tony manage to perform the crime while keeping it secretive, and if he does, will he be caught? The only way to find out is to see the show; it’s a seat-gripping drama you can’t afford to miss!
Creatives
Directing the show is Anthony Banks, with David Woodhead as designer and Katy Osborne as resident director. Additionally, there’s Lizzie Powell as lighting designer, plus Ben and Max Ringham on sound design and Luke Child as production manager. Not forgetting Betty Marini (wigs supervisor), Siobhan Boyd (costume supervisor), Alison De Burgh (fight director) and Simon Friend and Gavin Kalin (producers).
Cast
Tom Chambers of Top Hat and Strictly Come Dancing fame plays Tony Wendice. Additionally, there’s Christopher Harper of Coronation Street fame and Michael Salami of Hollyoaks fame. Not forgetting Katy Osborne and Adam Morris, who act as understudies for this production.
Venue
Liverpool’s Playhouse Theatre is one of the most popular entertainment venues in the whole city. Now, its circular entranceway is instantly recognisable and perfectly central within Williamson Square. But it’s more notable for its diverse offering of shows covering stand-up comedy, serious drama and children’s fun. Not to mention that it’s a great location to allow theatre-goers to enjoy the shops, bars and restaurants in the surrounding city centre. So, if you wish to see a theatre show in Liverpool, we strongly recommend that you pop by to the Playhouse Theatre.
