          Disney’s Beauty And The Beast

          Background

Disney proudly invites you to ‘Be Our Guest’ for this enchanting musical. Beauty And The Beast returns to the UK stage in 2021, ready to entertain audiences of all ages. Now, this musical has a spectacular reimagination which utilise the latest theatrical innovations, creating a fresh approach to this timeless tale. And that means it will come to life in a theatre setting like never before. Furthermore, this new production brings together members of the creative team on the original Broadway production from 1995.

          Creatives

Bookwriter Linda Woolverton joins Matt West, who serves as both director and choreographer. Also, Alan Menken handles music composition, along with Howard Ashman and Tim Rice who cover composing and lyrics. Furthermore, Stanley Meyer is scenic designer, Ann Hould-Ward covers costume design, and Jim Steinmayer handles illusions. Finally, there’s David H. Lawrence as hair and make-up designer, plus Natasha Katz as lighting designer and John Shivers as sound designer. And of course this UK and Ireland tour comes courtesy of Disney.

          Cast

Courtney Stapleton steps into the role of Belle, with her credits including Six, Bat Out Of Hell and Mamma Mia! Then, there is Emmanuel Kojo who plays the fearsome Beast. Now, Kojo brings experience as part of Oklahoma! on the theatre stage but stemming from a BBC1 show. Furthermore, Sam Bailey is present as Mrs Potts, with Bailey most notable for winning The X-Factor back in 2013.

          Venue

Liverpool’s Empire Theatre is a true mainstay of the city, ever since the venue’s initial opening in 1866. But a demolition of the original Empire would lead to the modern Empire opening in 1924. From there, the Empire would become a focal point for the UK’s top touring theatre shows. Indeed, so many iconic productions regularly come to Liverpool’s Empire Theatre. Furthermore, the list of performers to grace the Empire stage over the years reads like a who’s who. In addition, the Empire’s location is pivotal, with its positioning directly in front of Lime Street Station. The Empire has a total capacity of 2,381, with frequent sell-outs throughout the annual theatre calendar. Simply put, the Empire Theatre is amongst the UK’s top entertainment venues and an ideal backdrop for a classic night of theatre.

          Tour

The musical opens at Bristol Hippodrome, running from August 25 to September 18 2021. Then, the show moves onto Liverpool’s Empire Theatre from September 23 to October 16 2021. After that, the Edinburgh Playhouse hosts the show from October 21 to November 27 2021. Finally, it’s onto Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff from December 9 2021 to January 15 2022. Further dates and locations for 2022 and beyond across the UK and Ireland are awaiting confirmation.
