Ellen & Rigby
Background
Ellen is lucky in life, but unlucky in love, and so she’s looking for a man. But thanks to the NHS, she meets Joe Rigby! Now, Joe is a rock star who would come close to make it in 1985. But he lives alone, a situation so lengthy that he doesn’t even realise his unhappiness. Therefore, Ellen coming into his life could change all that.
With Ellen being Miss Old Swan in 1991, she still has beauty to offer, even after all these years. Now, after 12 months on their own, these two equally-lonely people come together for 12 weeks in between Joe’s vaccinations. And so it could go one of two ways. Will it be an exciting time for these two loners to fall in love? Or will it be a massive pain in the arse? The only way to find out is to see Ellen & Rigby. So, forget your socks, put your face on, and let’s get back to where we all belong!
Creatives
Gerry Linford is responsible for writing the first Royal Court Theatre show to hit the stage since March 2020. Furthermore, Gerry’s previous works include Yellow Breck Road and The Menlove Avenue Murder Mystery. So, you know that you’re in capable hands with him behind the pen.
Cast
For the return of Royal Court Theatre entertainment, it’s fitting that the two stars are Lindzi Germain and Andrew Schofield. After all, both are longtime favourites amongst those who regularly visit the Royal Court. And they have the ability to get audiences laughing hysterically with a one-liner or a mere facial expression. Therefore, these two are ideal as audiences return to their favourite Scouse theatre.
Venue
Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre is the second largest for capacity. And it associates itself closely with local productions that run for numerous weeks, attracting tens of thousands of attendees. But it’s not just about the entertainment on stage. No, the Royal Court is also about the incredible art deco design, which would receive a major transformation in the 2010s. And the venue would also celebrate its 80th anniversary back in 2018. Nowadays, the Royal Court is crucial to Liverpool’s cultural identity. So, if you’re looking for a great night out at the theatre, you should definitely visit the Royal Court Theatre.
