The days are counting down to Jersey Boys returning to Liverpool‘s Empire Theatre. This production comes to Liverpool from Wednesday 26 January to Saturday 5 February 2022 and tickets are still available for this exciting show! This will be one of the top theatre shows of 2022 at the Empire Theatre, so let’s take a look at Jersey Boys!

          Jersey Boys

          Background

Go behind the music and inside the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons in Jersey Boys. They begin as just four guys from New Jersey, until they sing their very first note. Jersey Boys have a sound which is all-new and one that the radio just can’t get enough of. But while their harmonies are perfect on-stage, off-stage it’s a very different story. However, it’s a story that would make them an international sensation all over again.

From the streets of New Jersey to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this is the musical that’s too good to be true. Why? Well, the show has all of their hits, including Beggin’, Walk Like A Man and December, 1963 (Oh What a Night). Also, there’s Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, My Eyes Adored You and Let’s Hang On (To What We’ve Got). Not forgetting Bye Bye Baby, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Working My Way Back to You and Fallen Angel. Oh, and there’s Rag Doll and Who Loves You to round off the exceptional soundtrack for this exceptional production.

          Creatives

The entire team responsible for the original Broadway production are behind the upcoming UK tour. This includes two Tony Award-winners in Des McAnuff as director and Sergio Trujillo as choreographer. Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice are writing the show, Bob Gaudio handles music anmd Bob Crewe covers lyrics. Also, there’s Jess Goldstein on costume design, Howell Binkley on lighting and Klara Zieglerova on scenic design. With Steve Canyon Kennedy on sound and Michael Clark on projections design, this production promises excellence. Furthermore, Steve Orich provides the orchestrations, with Ron Melrose providing music supervision and vocal arrangements.

Jersey Boys displays a big-name cast with Michael Pickering and Lewis Griffiths returning as Frankie Valli and Nick Massi. Blair Gibson performs the role of Bob Gaudio and Dalton Wood as Tommy DeVito. Luke Suri will take on the leading role of Frankie Valli at some performances. The rest of the talent cast includes Dougie Carter (Hank Majewski), Emma Crossley (Mary Delgado), Jordan James (Gyp DeCarlo), Norton James (Norm Waxman), Michael Levi (Bob Crewe), George Salmon (Joe Pesci), Ellie Seaton (Lorraine), Daisy Steere (Francine), Damien Winchester (Barry Belson), Ryan Carter-Wilson (Swing), Tom O’Brien (Swing), Nathan Routledge (Swing) and Amy West (Swing).

          Venue

Liverpool’s Empire Theatre is a true mainstay of the city, ever since the venue’s initial opening in 1866. But a demolition of the original Empire would lead to the modern Empire opening in 1924. From there, the Empire would become a focal point for the UK’s top touring theatre shows. Indeed, so many iconic productions regularly come to Liverpool’s Empire Theatre. Furthermore, the list of performers to grace the Empire stage over the years reads like a who’s who. In addition, the Empire’s location is pivotal, with its positioning directly in front of Lime Street Station. The Empire has a total capacity of 2,381, with frequent sell-outs throughout the annual theatre calendar. Simply put, the Empire Theatre is amongst the UK’s top entertainment venues and an ideal backdrop for a classic night of theatre.
