We’d like to provide our comments on the worldwide pandemic that is the Coronavirus, and the impact of Covid-19 on people, businesses and communities.
Firstly, it is vital for everybody to keep themselves safe and take great precaution. This means frequently and properly washing hands, keeping social interaction to an absolute minimum, and taking up self-isolation for seven days should any symptoms arise, no matter how minor. We urge people to be careful when it comes to avoiding situations that are not a necessity, and in particular we urge people to take additional care to look after any relatives of an advanced age or with underlying health conditions. This includes those with stronger immune systems and cleaner bills of health to assist the vulnerable as much as they possibly can throughout this situation, such as carrying out shopping and being in regular communication with those who may be suffering from loneliness caused by self-isolation.
The uncertainty regarding the true severity of Covid-19, as well as the uncertainty regarding when the virus will be contained and will pass its assumed peak, means that we should take what we personally feel are the most appropriate steps right now, as well as taking heed from official medical guidance with the hope that this situation will pass sooner rather than later. We are in tough times and they will continue, but we will come out of this.
Secondly, we show great solidarity for the many businesses who are impacted by this, whether it be staff working from home or employees being unable to work at all, as well as the job losses which may come for certain organisations to keep trading, as well as for those which may struggle to survive even after making cuts. In particular, we offer our full support for the theatres, entertainment venues and production companies with whom we regularly deal with. We strongly advise their customers to show appropriate understanding and patience during a time when contingency plans are being put into place, and to await further information as and when it can be provided. We will help in any way we can to continue backing such organisations during and in the aftermath of Covid-19.
Thirdly, we want to emphasise that everybody will react to this situation differently. Some will see it as an opportunity to relax, while others will dread the coming weeks and months. Our guidance is to consider all of the facts and to not invest heavily into mixed messages and over-reactions, instead focusing on what we already know, what logic dictates would potentially happen if we were to catch the virus ourselves, and how to adjust our daily lives accordingly for the short-term. Rational thinking will allow us to move forward in a manner that will be kinder to our mental health and to that of our family and friends, as well as allowing us to make an easier transition into a different way of life, one which we hope will not last for a significant period of time.
As a result, we suggest that people try to adopt a positive, relaxed mindset in order to keep their spirits up throughout this unprecedented global pandemic. As long as everybody takes suitable steps to keep everybody safe and to avoid any preventable circumstances, then we will be able to move forward. Positive thinking is essential when it comes to boosting one’s mood, and by smiling and laughing amongst ourselves, we are able to also boost the moods of those around us. It also increases our motivation to continue ploughing ahead, as well as to continue or work while stationed from home, and also to perhaps enjoy some of our favourite hobbies on a more regular basis at a time when most people will be confined to their houses and gardens. Keeping in close contact with relatives and pals via telephone, video technology and email will help to maintain our strongest relationships at a time when inner strength becomes a priority.
Finally, whilst there are no live shows being held within theatre, music or comedy for the forseeable future, we will continue to post regular content reviewing the likes of videogames, movies, television and more. We seek to bring a smile to the faces of our readers at all times, providing entertainment as well as opportunities for engagement, and this becomes even more important at this time. We are always welcome to guest contributions, and this is emphasised again right now, as we appreciate how writing about any topic of interest can help to keep the mind focused on something productive and valuable.
We will continue to monitor the situation and to help those around us however we can.
