This is our review of Peter Pan at St. Helens Theatre Royal. So, let’s take a look at Peter Pan!
Description Of Peter Pan
Hot on the heels of the February pantomime The Wizard Of Oz, St. Helens Theatre Royal presents its Easter extravaganza. Regal Entertainments’ latest panto will entertain audiences during the Easter holidays. The show is part of Theatre Royal’s exciting Spring Season 2022 programme. It runs from Saturday April 2 to Monday April 18 2022. Tickets are available starting from £13.
This is based on J.M. Barrie’s timeless classic on the boy who never grew up. And it’s a family-friendly swashbuckling show featuring fabulous flying scenes! With a sprinkling of fairy dust, audiences can join Peter, Wendy, John, Michael, Tinkerbell and friends. They leave St. Helens behind, flying past the second star to the right and straight onto Neverland. There, they will enjoy daring adventures battling the evil Captain Hook and his hapless henchman. Along the way, audiences will also meet Pirates, Fairies, Lost Boys, Indians, and of course, a tick-tocking crocodile!
Analysis Of Peter Pan
This show stars Harrison Vaughan as Peter Pan, Scott Gallagher as Captain Hook and Reece Sibbald as Smee. Not forgetting David Phipps-Davis as Mrs Smee, Lauren McCory as Wendy, Mia Molloy as Tiger Lyly and Hayley Russell and Tinkerbell. There’s a very lively and colourful opening with excellent scenery. Everyone provides an energetic and enthusiastic performance throughout. But a special mention goes to Michael, the youngest of the darling children. Also, an acknowledgement must go to Reece Sibbald who was fabulous at playing Smee. One little boy in the audience said “Smee is really Stupid”. Reece also wrote a very witty, clever and up-to-date script with plenty of very amusing sketches.
Meanwhile, it was great to see a full complement of dancers. The costumes were fabulous and the graphics were superb. Mrs Smee’s costumes were amazing and also had a huge number of costume changes. Tinkerbell had a very strong and powerful voice. Meanwhile, there was an excellent portrayal of Captain Hook who had a very evil laugh and was very scary. He encouraged audience participation with plenty of booing. Furthermore, Peter was a great dancer and performed a dizzying number of spins.
Summary Of Peter Pan
One member of the audience commented that she had taken her daughter to pantomimes for 11 years but this was the best. That sums it up really! I would thoroughly recommend the whole family goes to see Peter Pan for a fabulous night at the theatre.
