Physical Fest: Dive
Background
This is an evening that brings together four very different yet equally physical performances. To start off, there’s Rewind by Ephemeral Ensemble. Now, deep down under the earth that we walk on are unheard voices. In fact, they’re echoes from the past. And on this visual journey, we will unearth several stories from those who shall dare resist. Next, there’s Unbroken by Facing North Theatre, with Lane Paul Stewart as writer and conceptualiser. “I’m leading a double life. A simple, honest warehouse worker by day; by night, a dynamic tsar of the underworld, Mother.” So, this show unravels the feeling of being restrained, containing every impulse of desire, pleasure and adventure.
After that, we have Barely Visible by Rowena Gander. This show is a work in process grappling with the complex terrain of female queerness. Furthermore, it asks what happens if gay women continue to live in the shadows. Additionally, Rowena Gander is an international performance artist creating shows questioning and negotiating sexuality, power and objectification of women. Finally, we have The Secret Of Cerise by Tipsy Cow Productions. Now, they’re red, they’re hot, and now they’re on the run! So, The Secret Of Cerise is a hilarious performance that provides energetic and physical comedy alongside love and murder. What’s more, Tipsy Cow Productions is a female-led physical comedy company that call themselves professionally ridiculous. Indeed, they mix crazy characters with ridiculous situations, thus creating chaotic and side-splitting productions.
Cast
A cast showcasing local talent is awaiting further announcements. But when the full list of performers is available, we will let you know!
Venue
The Unity Theatre is an intimate and quirky venue. Indeed, it has a special place on Liverpool’s theatre scene. And this reflects in its offering of exciting, thought-provoking and unorthodox shows. Furthermore, the stage is extremely close to the audience, meaning that attendees often have close eye contact with the stars. And that can make for some interesting experiences, as well as allowing crowds to immerse themselves fully into the experience. So, if you’re looking for something fresh and different, we recommend that you stop by at Unity Theatre.
