Rock Of Ages
Background
Rock Of Ages is a hilarious musical comedy complete with over 25 classic rock anthems. Now, these include Don’t Stop Believin’; We Built This City; The Final Countdown; and Wanted Dead or Alive. And not forgetting Here I Go Again; Can’t Fight this Feeling; and I Want To Know What Love Is. What’s more, all of these come loud and proud courtesy of an awesome live band. So, leave it all behind and lose yourself. But why? Because it’s a city and a time where the dreams are as big as the hair. Indeed, they can come true! Furthermore, the show is now a true global smash hit across Broadway, the West End, Las Vegas and even the big screen. Indeed, this show promises you the best party night out around.
Creatives
The show has a book by Chris D’Arienzo plus arrangements and orchestrations by Ethan Popp. But what about the directing and choreography? Well, both come courtesy of Nick Winston, whose credits include Chess; Mame; and Cats. Furthermore, design comes from Morgan Large, with lighting design by Ben Cracknell. Also, we have sound design from Ben Harrison along with musical supervision by Barney Ashworth.
Cast
A big-name cast is awaiting further announcements. But when the full list of performers is available, we will let you know!
Venue
Liverpool’s Empire Theatre is a true mainstay of the city, ever since the venue’s initial opening in 1866. But a demolition of the original Empire would lead to the modern Empire opening in 1924. From there, the Empire would become a focal point for the UK’s top touring theatre shows. Indeed, so many iconic productions regularly come to Liverpool’s Empire Theatre. Furthermore, the list of performers to grace the Empire stage over the years reads like a who’s who. In addition, the Empire’s location is pivotal, with its positioning directly in front of Lime Street Station. The Empire has a total capacity of 2,381, with frequent sell-outs throughout the annual theatre calendar. Simply put, the Empire Theatre is amongst the UK’s top entertainment venues and an ideal backdrop for a classic night of theatre.
Tour
The musical opens at The Alexandra in Birmingham on August 19 2021. It then visits both the Sunderland Empire and also Glasgow King’s Theatre. Then, the show arrives at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre from September 14-18.
