Background
School of Rock, based on Mike White’s 2003 movie, is performed by a steller cast of children and adults. This fun, rock-obsessed musical production made its debut in on Broadway at the Winter Garden in 2015 and arrived at the West End the following year. This show was the second of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals to have premiered on Broadway since Jesus Christ Superstar in 1971.
Meet Dewey Finn aka “Mr Schneebly”, struggling rockstar desperate for cash and his big break. After getting kicked out of his band, Dewey pretends to be a substitute teacher at the local prep school after taking on his roomate Ned’s identity. We meet his classroom of talented but conservative pupils. These kids are soon to be members of Dewey’s new band and compete in Battle of the Bands, as “Mr Schneebly” educates them in the way of rock!

Hundreds of iconic productions regularly come to Liverpool’s Empire Theatre; the list of performers to grace the Empire stage over the years reads like a who’s who. The Empire’s location is pivotal, with its positioning directly in front of Lime Street Station.
