Sleepover
Synopsis
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s over a year of not properly hanging out with our mates. Therefore, this Sleepover is long overdue. So, the year is 1990. A time of back-combed fringes, Just Seventeen Magazines, New Kids On The Block and White Musk Perfume. Remember? Sure you do. Well, you’re 15-years-old. And you live for your mates, belly laughs and having sleepovers at Kelly’s house. So, come and join us to discuss all the best things about being a teenager.
Furthermore, leave the responsibilities of an adult world behind. And embrace your teenage self who might explain how to live your life now. Oh, and boys, you have an invite too. But keep the noise down; Kelly’s dad might kill us if he knows there’s lads in the house.
Analysis
This show would introduce us to Vicky (Alivia Yemm), Zoe (Jessica Hearn), Lisa (Kat Johns) and Kelly (Natalie Vaughan). And the show, with direction from Emma Bramley and Sarah Hogarth, would be very unique. So, it would begin by entering Kelly’s bedroom. And it was there that we would meet a vivacious teenager asking “If we like Bros?” Yes, they are all Brosette fans. As this shows, the show would take audience participation to a whole new level. Indeed, the girls would read our star signs, with much of the conversation concerning boys and sex!
In between the dare games, this show would also provide a lot of energy. There was dancing and singing throughout to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and Since U Been Gone. All with Kelly’s father downstairs trying to watch football. Along the way, one girl would shop for booze, including Cinzano, Absynthe and Malibu. And it wasn’t just the cast that got to enjoy the alcohol! All the while, there would be jokes, authentic references and subtle dialogue.
Summary
Sleepover really was a Saturday night in with the girls. And, oh, what fun we would have in Kelly’s bedroom!
