Synopsis Of Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em
There are hilarious situations, and DIY disasters to quite literally bring the house down here. This show stars Joe Pasquale (I’m a Celebrity, Spamalot, The Producers) as the loveable yet clumsy Frank Spencer. Based on the 1970s TV classic, the production also stars Susie Blake (Coronation Street, Blithe Spirit) as his mother-in-law. Not forgetting Sarah Earnshaw as Frank’s long-suffering wife Betty.
Now, Betty has some exciting news for Frank. However, he’s preoccupied with his potential newfound fame as a magician. But with guests coming for dinner and crossed wires all round, plenty of misunderstandings are on the menu. This show is written and directed by Guy Unsworth, and based on the TV series by Raymond Allen. It’s the ultimate feel-good show, washed down with lots of nostalgia and Mother’s prune wine. Quite Frank-ly, it’s a hit!
Analysis Of Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em
This show is both very funny and quite emotional. Joe Pasquale played Frank exceptionally well, and it’s worth the ticket price alone. His physicality and attention to detail took me right back to 1970’s Michael Crawford. Indeed, Frank had some memorable monologues, as did Betty’s mother.
Elsewhere, the show has a very clever and witty script. Frank’s life is difficult as he attempts to deal with everyday problems in the 1970s. Plus, his attempts at DIY are hilarious. Meanwhile, the humour is gentle and refreshing and made the audience laugh out loud without swearing; it’s good, clean fun. The cast delivered the show with energy and enthusiasm, and also a special mention must go to set design.

This is a fantastic show and a wonderful trip down memory lane. Make sure to head alone for a night of mirth and memories.
