The Greatest Play In The History Of The World
Background
This is a universal love story celebrating the human race through its whole glorious confusion, messiness and joy. So, a man wakes up during the night to receive a shock: the world is over! And yet as he looks through the crack in his bedroom curtains, he sees just one person. So, that person is a woman wearing a super-large David Bowie T-shirt, and she’s looking right at him. But what happens from there? And how can they cope in a world where seemingly they’re the only two people remaining? Furthermore, this show provides incredible observation and heartbreaking beauty, as well as winning numerous awards in recent years.
Creatives
The writer of this show is Ian Kershaw. Meanwhile, it comes from Tara Finney Productions in association with Hull Truck Theatre. Originally, this show would be a joint production involving Royal Exchange Theatre. Additionally, Raz Shaw is director, while Naomi Kuyck-Cohen handles design, Mark Meville covers sound and Jack Knowles handles lighting.
Cast
Julie Hesmondhalgh brings huge credibility to this one-woman show. Indeed, the BAFTA-nominated actress has numerous memorable roles throughout her career as a performer. So, this includes her unforgettable stint as Hayley Cropper on Coronation Street, as well as her role in Broadchurch. And now she steps onto the stage for The Greatest Play In The History Of The World!
Venue
Liverpool’s Playhouse Theatre is one of the most popular entertainment venues in the whole city. Now, its circular entranceway is instantly recognisable and perfectly central within Williamson Square. But it’s more notable for its diverse offering of shows covering stand-up comedy, serious drama and children’s fun. Not to mention that it’s a great location to allow theatre-goers to enjoy the shops, bars and restaurants in the surrounding city centre. So, if you wish to see a theatre show in Liverpool, we strongly recommend that you pop by to the Playhouse Theatre.
