We welcome the announcement of Under The Mask coming to Liverpool‘s Playhouse Theatre. The show comes to Liverpool from Thursday July 8 to Saturday July 10 2021. And tickets are now available for this intriguing show. Now, this will be an emotional theatre show at the Playhouse Theatre. So, let’s take a look at Under The Mask!

          Under The Mask

          Background

Back in March 2020, the Coronavirus pandemic would begin. Therefore, hundreds of final year medical students would finish studying early to work on the frontline immediately. And this show tells the story of one of those student nurses, a newly qualifiable doctor, Jaskaran. Right from the start, she works at the hospital’s Covid Intensive Care Unit, with the reality hitting her quickly. From tons of intubated patients to blisters from wearing full PPE for 12 hours, it’s difficult to comprehend. And that’s before you consider relatives crying as they say goodbye via Skype. Indeed, the brutal reality of Covid-19 is on show, partly due to the use of sounds from actual Covid wards. And attendees can listen through headphones to hear what the doctor states about the pandemic. Furthermore, this allows attendees to experience what life was and remains like during the pandemic as a medical doctor.

          Creatives

The writer of this show is Shaan Sahota, with this amazing show being her very first script come to life. Meanwhile, Sita Thomas is director, with Farokh Soltani as sound designer and Fin Kennedy handling dramaturgy.

          Venue

Liverpool’s Playhouse Theatre is one of the most popular entertainment venues in the whole city. Now, its circular entranceway is instantly recognisable and perfectly central within Williamson Square. But it’s more notable for its diverse offering of shows covering stand-up comedy, serious drama and children’s fun. Not to mention that it’s a great location to allow theatre-goers to enjoy the shops, bars and restaurants in the surrounding city centre. So, if you wish to see a theatre show in Liverpool, we strongly recommend that you pop by to the Playhouse Theatre.
