What’s Love Got To Do With It? A Tribute To Tina Turner is a joyous new show celebrating the music of the incredible Tina Turner. It originally began at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre, and here, it made its grand return. This is a recreation of a 1980s concert with incredible musical arrangements faithful to the Tina Turner originals supported by fabulous backing singer/dancers and a live band of outstanding musicians.

What’s Love Got To Do With It?

Description Of What’s Love Got To Do With It?

It takes a lot of people to fill the famous Liverpool Empire Theatre and it was full to its 2350 capacity when Elesha Paul Moses stormed onto the stage as the iconic Tina Turner to an ecstatic audience. Moses’ range is extraordinary as is her unashamed impersonation of everything Tina Turner. Singing favourite hits from the title song What’s Love Got To Do With It? such as Private Dancer, Proud Mary, River Deep, Nutbush City Limits and Simply The Best, she brought the house down ending the first half, complete with a stunning costume change, singing Hero.

By the second half, the audience were clearly straining to get up and dance. Furthermore, they needed no encouragement to join in with the well-rehearsed cast and musicians featuring several solo spots. A further highlight featured Moses in a stunning golden gown as the band swelled to the familiar Bond theme GoldenEye. The show ended with an audience participation segment that had young and old singing along while dancing in the aisles.

          Analysis

Elesha Paul Moses was simply stunning as Tina Turner. She had the audience on side from the start with her engaging personality and obvious love for the icon that is Tina Turner. Indeed, she gave an excellent portrayal of the character with her distinctive dance moves and musical interpretation. No mean feat Moses emphasised that this was a tribute rather than an attempt at a full impersonation but her song delivery was extraordinary. She may have entered as a queen, but by the end of the first half, Moses was a goddess in her silver costume with stunning headpiece. Furthermore, the musical support carried the performance with fantastic solos from saxophonist Kit and the fabulous backing singer/dancers who were on point throughout.

Summary Of What’s Love Got To Do With It?

What’s Love Got To Do With It? A Tribute To Tina Turner is a musical feast of song and dance fit for any lover of soul music and Tina Turner. So, be prepared for a fabulous night of fun, song and dance with stunning performances by the whole cast.
